Many experts still cannot agree on the definitive answer to this “when a postnatal Mum can or should run” as all human beings are different and all births are different. Mum activity, including running, has grown in popularity in the last 15 years, however most logged research has been based on elite athletes, (Paula Radcliffe and team mates) not a ‘general Mum’ running a slow 100m stretch in a BuggyFit class, or for 30 minutes around a park on a Saturday morning..
If you are keen to get back to running, the key considerations for any postnatal woman are stabilisation and rehabilitation. New Mums need to regain full joint and pelvic stability, realign muscular rebalance, altered biomechanics, and heavy breasts and there could be a change in gait/foot strike. Your precious cargo is something to consider if you wish to run with a buggy too.

Charly is such a friendly and knowledgeable instructor! Highly recommended :-)
Charly has taken time to understand where I'm at and what I need from exercise following having my baby. She's knowledgeable and approachable. Love that all the family can get involved with sessions too!
Had great fun today, even though was a brisk walk I burned the same amount of calories in 50 mins as I do in bootcamp. Certainly worked out a sweat. Great company and good fun not just for mums.
After having my second child I made the decision it was time to focus on my body. My goal is to get strong rather than for weight loss, so I can keep up with the childlings. From the very beginning Charly has been professional and personable with clear communication on what exercises are good, why they are and what to avoid postpartum to steer clear of an injury. The class sizes are an intimate size allowing some great 121 feedback and corrections (my squats are getting better - those pesky knees like to creep forward). Being able to bring my infant is amazing! He’s happily snuggled up in his buggy, and I look forward to summer days with him rolling about on the grass with the other kids! On the occasion he is less smiley Charly has been on hand to offer cuddles to allow me to continue to workout. I’ve learnt so much already about how different a woman’s body is after having a baby (and he’s my second). Not only is all the exercise great but you meet some other parents along the way, having some adult conversation is 👌🏻 Before you jump into any old exercise group book a trial with Charly - you won’t look back. She will help you get strong and meet your goals in a healthy, safe way - I wouldn’t have even realised I had any muscle separation if it wasn’t for Charly, she knows her stuff! 💪🏻 (I attend Buggyfit + Pilates)
Really enjoy the classes with Charly who is friendly and knowledgeable. --- 9 months later and I’m still going. Great class, good mix of exercises so you dont get bored, keeping me fit and getting my daughter outside. Charly can taylor exercises to what you need or want to work on.
